Meet José Garcia-Tirado

José García-Tirado is an Assistant Professor at the Bern University Hospital’s Department of Diabetes, Endocrinology, Nutritional Medicine, and Metabolism (UDEM) and leader of the PrecisionLab. Before joining UDEM in early 2023, Prof. Garcia-Tirado served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia’s Center for Diabetes Technology where he initiated and consolidated the translation of a novel fully automated insulin delivery (fAID) system. His research interests encompass mechanistic (physiologically based) and physiologically informed data-driven models as well as the refinement of the next generation of fully automated insulin delivery systems (fAID) for insulin-dependent diabetes with and without adjuvant therapies.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family discovering Switzerland.
