Meet Ceren Asli Kaykayoglu

Asli is a PhD student in the PrecisionLab at the Department of Diabetes, Endocrinology, Nutritional Medicine, and Metabolism (UDEM) of the University Hospital of Bern. Her research focuses on improving diabetes management for individuals with diabetes by investigating methods to detect eating and physical activity behaviors using Continuous Glucose Monitoring and commercial activity trackers. Through this approach, she aims to enhance clinical outcomes and improve the quality of life for diabetes patients.

Asli holds a BSc in Medical Engineering specializing in Wearable Technologies from Acibadem University, Istanbul, and an MSc in Biomedical Engineering focusing on Image-Guided Therapy from the University of Bern. Her journey into the diabetes field began with her master's thesis titled "Nocturnal Hypoglycemia Detection with Smartwatch Data" under the supervision of Prof.Dr. Lilian Witthauer and Prof. Dr. José Garcia. Alongside these, she gained experience in wearable data analytics and medical data analysis using machine learning algorithms during her research.

She is passionate about advancing and developing the digitalization of real-world health technologies to solve complex health challenges in everyday life through innovative digital solutions.

Outside academics, Asli plays volleyball in the 1st League and enjoys cooking variety of cuisines.
