Nutritional Medicine
Our research focuses on the causes, diagnosis and personalized treatment of malnutrition. Malnutrition occurs when the ingestion of nutrients is inadequate or when the intestines’ absorption of nutrients is insufficient. The term "malnutrition" covers under- and over-nutrition as well as the unhealthy ratio of certain nutrients in the daily diet. Malnutrition is particularly common among hospital inpatients and makes their recovery much more difficult. The aim of our research is to develop novel strategies to optimize inpatient and outpatient nutrition in order to reduce the burden of malnutrition.
